Flunkyball rules
Flunkyball is a German outdoor team drinking game. Two teams stand apart, throw at a center target, and drink only while the other team is resetting the target and retrieving the ball.
What do you need for Flunkyball?
You need two teams, a ball, a target bottle in the middle, enough open space, and one drink per player. Use a safe open area and make sure the target cannot break.
How do you play Flunkyball?
Teams line up facing each other with the target between them. One player throws the ball at the target. If the target falls, that player's team starts drinking. The other team must stand the target back up, retrieve the ball, return behind their line, and call stop.
When stop is called, the drinking team stops immediately. The other team then takes its turn. The first team to finish its drinks wins, depending on the house rules.
What are the basic Flunkyball rules?
- Make two teams and place a target bottle between them.
- Each team stands behind its own line.
- One player throws the ball at the target.
- If the target falls, the thrower's team starts drinking.
- The defending team resets the target, retrieves the ball, returns behind its line, and calls stop.
- The drinking team stops immediately when stop is called.
- Teams alternate throws until the agreed win condition is reached.
What are common penalties?
Groups often penalize starting too early, drinking after stop, spilling, crossing the line, or unsafe throws. Agree on penalties before the first throw so the game does not become an argument.
How do you make Flunkyball safer?
Use a soft ball, a non-breakable target, and a clear outdoor space away from traffic, glass, and balconies. Do not throw at people, and stop the game if the ground is slippery or the group is too crowded.
How does Party Cards compare?
Flunkyball is physical and best outside. Party Cards is better for indoor groups, pre-drinks, and house parties where players want prompts, votes, and challenges without needing a field or equipment.
